I’m so excited to share some of my favorite educational apps for kids. I’m a former teacher and counselor. When I was a teacher, I would use a variety of educational apps for my students. My students were so engaged anytime I incorporated these learning apps into our lessons. I also saw a lot of improvements in their reading and math skills when I would combine hands-on-activities and educational apps. It’s so important to understand that all kids learn in a different way. Therefore, as educators and/or parents we have to find various ways to help our kids learn.
I see so many benefits with educational apps with my own kids. When my daughter started to learn to read, it was a bit of a struggle with helping her understand basic reading skills. She wasn’t interested in learning to read. So I started incorporating a kids reading app into her days. By consistently allowing my daughter to use a fun reading app, this helped her begin to enjoy the process of learning to read! When kids are able to have fun and enjoy the process of reading and doing math, it makes learning so much easier. So here are my favorite educational learning apps for kids.

Tips for Educational Learning Apps
- Be consistent with the educational apps. I have my daughter do 15-30 minutes on an educational learning app per day. The consistency has helped me see drastic improvements.
- Have your child go outside while they are using the educational app. Being outside on a warm day in the fresh air helps improve behavior.
- Combine the educational app lesson with hands-on activities. If your child is learning about shapes and colors on their educational app, also have them identify shapes in the neighborhood when y’all go for a walk outside. Keep it simple.
- Offer rewards for progress with learning new skills.
- Make sure the educational apps aren’t too difficult. This should be independent practice for your kids. So, they shouldn’t need much of your help.
