When I gave birth to my daughter, I knew I wanted to be a stay at home mom. Prior to me being a stay at home mom, I was a teacher and held several positions in the field of education. I also have my Masters degree in Education and I was so passionate about my career in the field of education. However, things changed after I had my daughter. I felt the need to be home. So, when my daughter was 3 years old, I was finally able to leave my job as a teacher and become a stay at home mom. This was one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life. So here’s 8 reasons why I love being a stay at home mom.
More Time for Homemaking
I find so much joy in homemaking. I love cleaning, organizing, and making sure my home is a happy space for my husband and kids. Being a stay at home mom allows me to have a big focus on taking care of my home throughout the day and I love that.
Opportunity to Homeschool
As a former educator, I have a deep rooted love for teaching. So being a stay at home mom has allowed me the opportunity to homeschool my kids. I love that homeschooling does not have to be forever. While my kids are still young, I like having the opportunity to homeschool them and help create a good foundation of learning new skills.
Create my Own Schedule/Routine
When I look back at my jobs, my favorite jobs were always the ones that had a very flexible schedule. So being at home full time allows me to create a schedule that works for me and my family. I also love that I can switch up my schedule whenever I want. During the fall and winter months I have a more relaxed schedule and I stay inside for the most part. During the spring and summer months, my schedule is busier with lots of fun family activities. I love that I can create a schedule that works for me.
Saves Money
When I became a stay at home mom, I realized I was actually saving money. The cost of childcare is very expensive. With my job as a teacher, I was almost spending half my paycheck on childcare. So being a stay at home mom and having my kids at home with me actually saves my family money. Besides childcare, we are saving on food, gas, and other expenses.
Relaxed Clothing
I remember when I was a teacher, my favorite day of the week was “Relaxed Fridays.” All the teachers and staff were only allowed to wear casual relaxed outfits on Fridays. So, now I love being able to wear relaxed clothes everyday if I want. I love matching loungewear sets and activewear sets. I love that I don’t have to invest in certain “professional wear.” Here’s some of my favorite athleisure matching sets HERE.
It’s My Calling
I do believe that in this season, God has called me to be a stay at home mom. It brings me so much happiness being home. Not every day is perfect and some days are really tough. But I wouldn’t have it any other way.
More Time with My Husband
I love being able to have more time with my husband. I’m able to get all the house chores done early so that when my husband is home we can spend quality time together. When I was a teacher and held other job positions, I always felt rushed with the time I had with my husband. I cherish our marriage and I want to be able to spend as much time with my husband.
More Time with my Kids
My kids aren’t going to be young forever, so spending quality time with them is important. I love that I’m able to plan activities, daily trips, and lots of fun events with my kids. We have created lots of core memories during these years of me being a stay at home mom.
