homeschooling with a newborn 👩🏽‍🍼📓 When I was pre homeschooling with a newborn 👩🏽‍🍼📓

When I was pregnant, the thought of homeschooling with a newborn made me nervous. I didn’t know how I was going to balance my time. But by the grace of God, homeschooling and adjusting to the newborn stage has been going well. Our days are NOT perfect and some days are rough, but we’re getting it done! Here’s what has been helping us successfully homeschooling with a newborn:

🌸I’ve been using the Wild Bird baby wrap! Baby boy is comfy and sleep when he’s wrapped. So during that time I’m able to teach.

🌸we’re prioritizing reading and math for a couple months. Reading.com has been a great resource and we use The Good and the Beautiful curriculum for math. Also we keep the lessons short.

🌸we took a couple weeks off from homeschooling to just focus on adjusting as a family of 5. Give yourself grace during this time.

🌸we get outside daily for stroller walks. During this time I can review what we’re learning. Also getting outside has been so refreshing being postpartum!

🌸 I have the mindset that this is just a short season of the newborn stage. Our homeschool days look different and that’s okay #postpartum #homeschoolmom #homeschoolmomlife

#ad I’ve been a homeowner for 10 years! This is where so many memories have been made with my family. We are also a homeschool family, so lots of our days are spent at home. Something I didn’t know when we bought our home is that radon testing should be done before purchasing. Radon is a naturally occurring gas that’s harmful. Over time, breathing in high levels of radon can be harmful to your lungs. So we’ve been taking steps to make sure our home is protected. At-home radon testing kits are affordable and easy to use. Protecting your home means protecting the people you love.

If you’re a homeowner or will be buying a home soon, make sure to test your home for radon! @lungassociation You can also get more information at lung.org with the American Lung Association

10 SAHM Hacks that I Love

stay at home tips and hacks

I’m so excited to share these simple SAHM hacks that have helped me. When I became a stay at home mom, I was overwhelmed. I always dreamed of being a stay at home mom, but when it became a reality I struggled with how to manage my days at home. My 3 year old daughter was also home with me. By the end of the day I was exhausted and oftentimes felt like I didn’t accomplish much. So over the years of being a stay at home mom, I’ve learned these hacks that significantly helped my days.

SAHM Hacks #1

Mid Day Clean Up: I consider myself to be a very organized person. I thrive best when my house is organized and clean. With me being a homeschool mom, my house can get messy throughout the day. So I like to do a quick 30 minute mid day clean up. This is helpful so that I’m not doing a lot of cleaning at the end of the day. This also makes my evenings easier and less stressful.

SAHM Hacks #2

Membership at the Gym with Child Watch: I decided to get a gym membership at the YMCA mainly because they offer a child watch for 2 hours out the day. So I can bring my kids to the child watch at the YMCA while I work out. I also love that the YMCA offers areas where I can just sit, relax and drink my tea or coffee. As a stay at home mom, having just a little time to myself helps me have better days. If you don’t have family or friends that can help with watching your kids and you don’t want to pay for a daycare, consider checking out a gym that offers a child watch for a certain amount of hours during the day.

SAHM Hacks #3

Spend Time Outdoors: It’s so important to get outside daily especially if you’re a stay at home mom. I typically wake up before my kids, go outside in my backyard and drink my tea. It’s so relaxing and peaceful. Also, my kids enjoy being outside so I have them ride their shooters around the neighborhood while I walk with them. You’ll definitely see the difference in your mood if you spend time outside for at least 15 minutes per day.

SAHM Hacks #4

Schedule Date Night: As a stay at home mom, our days are consumed with taking care of the home and our kids. But it’s equally important to schedule date night with your significant other. Once a month, my husband and I do a fun activity. Also, if you’re not able to find someone to watch your kids, schedule an at home date night when your kids go to sleep. My husband and I love getting take out, sipping on some wine, and watching our favorite movie at night.

SAHM Hacks #5

Routines Make Life Easier: As a former teacher, I understand the benefits of routines. As a stay at home mom, I like having a flexible routine. A part of my routine is waking up everyday before my kids to journal, pray, and have some peace and quiet. I consider my routine to be flexible because with two kids at home, things can change at any moment. It’s also important for my kids to have a routine so they know what to expect. Create a schedule/routine that works for you.

SAHM Hacks #6

Top 3 Priority List: As a stay at home mom, I have a long list of things I have to do daily. I remember times when I wouldn’t feel accomplished at the end of the day because I had so much I didn’t get done. So I started doing a top 3 priority list. I wrote down 3 of the most important tasks I needed to do that day. Of course there are the daily tasks that we do, but having a top 3 priority list helps me focus on what’s most important.

SAHM Hacks #7

Declutter Often: I’m a very organized person by nature. So when I became a stay at home mom, it was important for me to create a space/atmosphere that was neat and organized. I realized that decluttering at least 1x a month helped so my home wasn’t always messy. Some of the things I like to declutter every month are the kids’ toys, clothes and items in my pantry. Tip: you can sell items you no longer use for some extra cash.

SAHM Hacks #8

Spend Time with a Friend: I found my mom community when I became a stay at home mom. It was important to me that I connected with like minded moms. I also enjoy having play dates with other stay at home moms. Also, it’s important to schedule meet ups, brunch, or a girls day out without the kids.

SAHM Hacks #9

Order Take Out: One of my least favorite things to do is cook. So I found ways to make cooking easier for me. I started ordering take out at least once a week for my family. I would find family meal deals at local restaurants. A lot of times the family meals at restaurants last at least 2 days for my family of 4. I also created a list of quick and easy crock pot meals. If cooking isn’t your thing, find ways to make it easier.

SAHM Hacks #10

Online Grocery Shopping: I have always been a person that prefers going in-store to do my shopping. However, I realized that I could actually save money and find deals by doing online shopping. I love doing the Target Pick Up orders because I can get groceries and other household items that I need. I also love that I can save my favorite items with my Target app and they will notify me when there are different deals.

I hope these simple stay at home mom hacks was helpful! Remember to embrace your journal as a stay at home mom. Also, make sure you check out my blog post Simplifying Your Life as a Stay at Home Mom.
