At the end of 2018, my friend Antoinette and I decided to step into influencing and blogging. We had no idea what we were doing and we didn’t have help from anyone. But we had each other and we were going to figure out how to be successful! I remember one of our first campaigns. We probably got paid less than $30 dollars for a post and stories. We were so excited because this was a start.
Fast forward to 2019, we decided to step things up and go to an influencer event in Charlotte, North Carolina. We still weren’t making hardly any money from influencing/blogging, but we felt like it was necessary to attend an event. So Antoinette picked me up and we drove over 2 hours that night, stayed at a friend’s house and woke up the next morning for the event! At the influencer event we met Mattie James, Brittney Hennessy and so many other heavy hitters in the world of influencing. We left that event encouraged and ready to step it up!
Starting from the bottom now we’re here! We’ve come a long way and we still have even bigger goals ahead. Antoinette is my sister and my blogger bestie! We hustle and get it done! We find a way to make things work and a way to always meet our goals! We help each other, encourage each other, set high goals, dream big, and we do a lot of laughing along the way. So if you’re on this journey of influencing/blogging, get a blogger bestie! Here are 5 reasons you need a blogger bestie.
1.Collaboration
I’m a believer that it’s always collaboration over competition. There’s so many ways to collaborate with your blogger besties to leverage your audience. Host giveaways together, follow Friday, outfit story loops, etc. Having blogger besties can help you come up with creative ways to engage your audience! From experience, my audience loves when they see me with other influencers/bloggers.
2.Strategize
As blogger besties, we keep each other up-to-date on partnerships, social media changes, business ventures, etc. We get tips and advice from each other and strategize on ways we can accomplish our income goals. There’s no handbook on exactly how to do influencing/blogging so it’s helpful when you can text or call your blogger besties to get some input on business questions.
3. Motivate & Encourage
With my blogger besties, we don’t just speak about business. We have conversations about our kids, marriage, our favorite tv shows, life struggles, etc. We are legit friends. We’re here to encourage each other in all areas of life. Having someone that understands what you’re going through in the business of influencing is important. It becomes so much more authentic when you can also speak to your blogger besties about the daily things happening in your life.
4. Meetups
It’s been years since I attended an influencer event, but one of my first events was with my blogger bestie as I mentioned above. We had so much fun networking and learning about influencing and blogging at that event. Also, since I live within a couple hours of my blogger besties, we do meetups. During the meet ups, we do photoshoots, have lunch, and just have fun!
5. Setting Goals
